A microchip can provide a lifetime of permanent identification if your dog or cat gets lost.
Despite all the safety precautions we take, accidents happen even to the most protective of pet parents. Your dog may come loose from their leash, or your cat may quickly sneak out the door in a split second. When your pet is microchipped, they have a permanent identification tag that will increase your chances of being reunited with them if they ever become lost or separated from you and the rest of your family.
We implant a microchip the size of a grain of rice under your pet’s skin, usually between their shoulders. The procedure is over in a matter of minutes and pets feel little to no discomfort all throughout.
Microchipping is not a GPS locator for your pet, but it is an excellent link between you and your pet if someone brings them in to have them scanned.
All veterinary clinics, SPCA and Humane Societies can scan animals found as strays. When your pet is scanned with a microchip reader, your contact information is displayed. The person who scans the chip can call the company that makes that specific microchip and access your contact details. For this reason, we recommend to keep your information with the company up-to-date.
